Radiesse is a versatile filler that effectively works to reduce deep wrinkles, correct contours, and provide a lifting effect. Many men and women choose a Radiesse treatment because it stimulates the natural production of collagen. It restores volume loss, lifts facial contours, and firms the skin from within.
The difference between hyaluronic acid and collagen-stimulating fillers
Hyaluronic acids sit in the skin and provide volume but have no stimulating effect on the tissue. Collagen-stimulating fillers like Radiesse contain an ingredient that activates connective tissue cells (fibroblasts). This causes the connective tissue cells to produce collagen. The ultimate filling is therefore your own collagen — which people often find appealing.
With Radiesse, the stimulating ingredient is calcium hydroxylapatite, a mineral that our own body also produces. After injection, the microparticles and gel provide immediate correction. The gel is absorbed by the body over several months, while the microparticles stimulate the production of natural collagen.

Step 2: The treatment
During a Radiesse treatment, a small amount of filler is precisely injected into the skin. The treatment is usually painless thanks to the local anesthesia applied. The doctor massages the treated area to ensure an even result. The skin may be temporarily slightly red or swollen, but there is no downtime. The treatment takes only 30 minutes.
Step 3: Recovery and aftercare
After treatment, it is important not to touch or cleanse the treated area for the first 12 hours and not to wear makeup. You can resume most daily activities immediately after treatment, with the exception of sports, sauna, and beauty treatments. Side effects are usually mild and temporary: the skin may be slightly red and swollen. In some cases, bruising may occur or temporary bumps may be visible.
